Every day had been the same since She passed. Each day at school went by as usual. Each moment at home was just like the last. Nothing new ever happened. Epcar sighed, walking up the stairs and entering the gym with about twenty other guys. He was tall for his age, blond wavy hair pulled back past his shoulders. Most considered him attractive, especially when they took into account his eyes. Epcar had a unique eye mixture, his left eye blue, while the other glowed golden. His smile never left his face as he laughed with the others; Being on the popular side amongst his male companions. On most days, the gym class was taken outside, where the boys could play in the sunlight and get into their activities. However, the frequent thunderstorms kept the class from being able to go outside for sports though the weather outside was normally nice. They were all itching for something physical to keep them going. For some of those men, that something physical came walking up the stairs in a swarm from the opposite side of the gym. Normally the men and women were kept separate, but when class was forced inside the two became one. Like usual some of the boys hollered and flirted; Enjoying themselves as the women blushed or flirted back. It was a playful meeting of the genders and Epcar was as much a part of it as the rest of them. But if he was to be honest with himself, he never found joy from playing those games with the rest of his fellow man. Once, a couple years ago, he had been in love. Her name was Anna, and much to his shock; She committed suicide. Epcar hadn't been the same since. In fact, he was incapable of having a lasting relationship with anyone. It's not that he didn't try, but ultimately none of them could keep his interest. Women had become his playthings, and could never hope to be anything more. The teachers blew their whistles, announcing that today was free play. That's all the boys needed to hear. Some of them went about flirting, while others took out some of the gym equipment and started playing. On most occasions Epcar would have went about aimlessly flirting with any and all of the girls, but today he wasn't in the mood. He approached his best friend Thomas for a game of basketball, and that's what the two of them did. During most of the hour they played an extremely competitive game, both working up a sweat. A couple of girls sat watching, cheering whenever one of the two made a basket. The two boys never noticed them though; They were in their own seperate worlds a place only the two of them belonged. That's when he noticed her, a girl of about average height. She was slender, her dark violet hair falling just above the shoulders. Epcar stopped mid-step and just stared. It was her eyes that had captured his attention, they were that same emerald luster as Anna's. His heart beat faster, his breathing becoming more rapid. Thomas watched as his friend stood frozen. He tried a number of things to attract the other's attention. Calling the other's name failed, waving his arm in Epcar's face failed as well. Finally he took a few steps back and lunged the basketball as hard as he could at the other's head. A direct hit, with Epcar not even moving. After another second Epcar moved, his eyes still glued to the girl. "W-Who is that?" he stammered. "Huh? Who her?" He responded looking at the dark-haired female. "I've never seen her before, I'm guessing she's new. If you're that curious just go talk to her, it's not like you're the shy type," Thomas replied rolling his eyes and shooting a couple baskets, irritated that their game had been disrupted because of some girl. "Kay~" left him, as he let himself float across the gym to get a better look. She was talking with a couple of other girls, and the blank stare on her face looked so innocent and confused. Everything about her appealed to Epcar, now he just wished to see her smile. She didn't seem like the type to smile much, and for a reason unknown to Epcar- He HAD to see her smile. After an unusual shy pause, Epcar gathered the bravery to approach. He held out his hand to the other for a greeting shake. "Why hello Sweetheart~ And what pre-tell is the name of this beautiful person in front of me?" He asked, flashing a gorgeous smile. His heart beat faster, waiting for any response from the other. She glared at him for a moment before finally holding out her hand. "Errr- My name is Vexus." Epcar's eyes widened, as his heart shattered. The sound that had come from that small frame was not that of a woman. "Y-You're a GUY?!" He asked in dismay, not believing that he had been so attracted to man. "Well yes, isn't it obvious?" he asked, pushing up his glasses to get a better look at the blond. Epcar was speechless, and a little broken. He had not expected such feelings to possess him because of a man. He backed away slowly, feeling like a complete idiot. "I'm sorry..." he tried to laugh off his feelings, "Well I'm going over HERE now~" he pointed to the other side of the gym, before taking off running. When he finally reached Thomas, he saw the other was laughing. "That was interesting!" Thomas laughed so hard he was having trouble breathing. "Shut up, and let's play!" He said, already irritated enough with himself and not in the mood to hear it from someone else. "Well if you're going to be crabby," he smiled, picking up the ball so the two of them could play. It wasn't completely new for Epcar to make a fool out of himself, but it was certainly going to be a while before he could live this mistake down. The two started playing, trying to focus on their game. There was something about that boy, even through the game with Thomas; Epcar could not stop thinking about him. Those eyes... they haunted his thoughts from that point on. He turned, looking at the other once again. "Vexus huh?" He mumbled to himself, taking in the appearance of the man before putting all his focus into his game with Thomas. Surely he would have to speak with him again...
